About us

Lorraine is the founder of Simply Additions. She is a workaholic and has a thirst for learning new things. She led the company’s transformation into 100% digitalisation. She is CIMA qualified, chartered management accountant with a love of tax. Year-end accounts + Tax + Management accounts is an unusual combination but works well when looking after start-ups and micro limited companies (big company knowledge without employing 3 accountants!). Lorraine is often referred to as the Queen of QuickBooks by those who know her. Outside of work, Lorraine likes to socialise, eat, and drink but has taken up golf to add some exercise into the mix. She also provides volunteer support to the accountancy industry and to the local university. Lorraine is a keen networker and as a result we have a long list of trusted contacts who we can share with our clients and local business community.

Mike – is our non-exec director. We are honoured to have such a great person on our board of directors. He is intelligent, witty and knows lot about buying behaviour.

Helen works with me to prepare year end accounts, with a thorough approach to working papers and a deep understanding of how to comply with accounting standards & tax rules. She does a lot of training & CPD to keep up with HMRC Tax changes. (Helen is a qualified accountant but we are not allowed to say which institute as we are applying for a practising licence). Outside work Helen is a regular visitor to the cinema and looks after her children and pets.

Lynn is our experienced bookkeeper. She is organised, knowledgeable and is an expert in QuickBooks. She has years of work on Sage desktop, so it was a bit of relief when she said she preferred QuickBooks. Lynn has also run her own company, so she knows a lot more about business than just the books. Outside of work, Lynn is an amazing party organiser for friends and family

Des is our bookkeeping apprentice, after a career change due to mobility restrictions. He is loving QuickBooks and loves the fact that it is based in the cloud. He can’t run around like the rest of us so working from home makes life a bit easier. In his spare time, Des is a DJ and runs a dance group with his wife Samantha. He has such a great sense of humour.

Katerina is studying her accounting technician exams with AAT. She is a very talented lady. She is from Belaruse and speaks fluent Russian, Italian and now English. She teaches Russian and Italian to students around the world. In work, Katerina works on QuickBooks reconciling Stripe, Shopify, and PayPal accounts. Katerina lives in Bishop Auckland with her English husband and 5-year-old daughter (also fluent in English and Russian).
